I had to fiddle and re-write all my titles and metas for SEO when I first started with wordpress, I just wasnt happy with it. I took out all the "this entry was posted....blah blah" too cos it was destroying my keyword density. Make sure you pick a great theme cos if you start modifying it, there's no going back.
